What a beautifully sunny half term we’ve had - and despite still being restricted it’s been lovely to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Following the communication I sent out on Friday I can now confirm that after the government announcement yesterday, and approval from the OCL board, we are going ahead with opening the academy from Monday for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 4, along with vulnerable children and the children of key workers if absolutely necessary.
You should remember that key worker provision is only to be used as an emergency and if there is no one else to care for your child.
Additionally, remember that you are only a key worker if your job is critical to the COVID-19 fight. With more of us returning to work, childcare will be a struggle, but we must stick to the strict criteria so that we can cater for the families who need this care appropriately.
Please ensure that if you have a child in Reception, Year 1 or Year 4, that you have filled out the form that the office sent out on Friday. We need to know whether you intend to send your child back to school so that we can staff the academy appropriately.
If we do not receive a response by the end of the day today, we will assume your child is not returning on their allocated days.
If at any point you change your mind on your decision we would kindly ask you to inform the academy office via email and a place will be made available for your child from the following week.
Please do take time to read the Q&A document that was sent out on Friday. This will ease the entry and exit process next week and will also help you support your child in the transition back to school.
I thank you deeply for your kindness and support in this process. It has been a huge piece of work and we will continue to risk assess the situation daily. Please remember that all children will enter through the pedestrian gate on Oakhill Drive and will have their temperature checked before entry.
Please enjoy the weekend and we cannot wait to invite you back next week.
