You may also want to take a look at our Year Group Pages which have lots of useful information.
We will be following the most up to date government guidance to inform our decisions regarding how visits can take place safely, however the dates below will remain unchanged whatever format the meetings are held in so you can add them all to your calendar now!
On Monday 24th May at 5pm we held a parents Q&A session using Facebook Live where we talked to you all about life at Oasis Academy Marksbury Road. This session included information on the daily routines for children, how to prepare your child for Reception, the things you will need for your child (kit lists etc.) along with important information about our school ethos and curriculum. There was plenty of time at the end of this session for you to put forward any questions you may have had which our team were delighted to answer. Please make sure that you follow us on Facebook and if you missed the live event you can watch it from the link on this page.
On Monday 7th June, we invited you and your child to step into our school! You were given a time slot to visit our school and our classrooms and to meet the two Reception teachers – Miss Parsons and Miss Kitchen. We ran this in small groups to maintain social distancing and keep everyone safe. This was an opportunity for your child to explore the setting with you and to learn more about day to day life in Reception. There was also a chance for you to ask any questions you may have had, and to join in with some fun songs and stories!
During the month of June we will be having phone conversations with your child’s nursery to understand from a practitioner’s perspective how your child has been getting on at nursery and to learn how we can best support them with their transition to school.
During the week beginning 21st June we will be coming to visit you and your child at your home! We will be conducting ‘distance doorstep’ visits where you will meet both Reception teachers again and find out which class your child will be in! The class options are Active Ants with Miss Parsons and Busy Bees with Miss Kitchen. You will also get given a ‘getting ready for school’ pack with lots of goodies to help your child prepare for this exciting new chapter in their life. This doorstep visit will also be an opportunity for you to share any particular questions or concerns you may have about your child starting school. Closer to the time you will be assigned a day and an approximate time slot for your visit, and we ask that you ensure both you and your child are at home for this. If your child is due to be at nursery on that day please speak to your nursery to see if they can be flexible with their hours on that day – most nurseries will be delighted to oblige so your child can take part in this special opportunity to meet their new teacher!
